I have a lot of things that I love to do as a photographer, and I have written about many of them, but my absolute favorite, and the most popular of the all products I offer, are my Custom Sports Collages. These beauties are a go to gift that many of my families give to their favorite athletes, for birthdays, for graduations, for Christmas, to celebrate big wins, or even just to document a season. I have recently added studio lighting to make them bigger and better than they have ever been, and have created a special session option where the poster is included in the price of the shoot.

Tyler Acree, Roanoke Rapids High School Class of 2017, was the one who gave me the idea to add Studio Poster Sessions as a special session service. He came to me specifically because he had seen the posters I designed for the 2016 RRHS Baseball Seniors and hoped for one of his own. When circumstances in his life changed unexpectedly, he thought he would not be getting the poster after all, but there was no way his mom and I were going to let that happen…. we waited months with our secret, until his 18th birthday. His sweet mom was gracious enough to let me hand him his big gift. The look on his face when he opened his eyes and whispered, “it’s what I wanted” will be with me FOREVER. Neither Tyler nor his mama will ever really know that the one who got the best gift that night was ME!
There is just something gritty and edgy that I can create by using studio lights and modifiers that I could never quite achieve just using the sun. I can decide where I want to put the highlights and shadows, and the result is just so… COOL.
The lights also give us flexibility in scheduling. We can shoot on location at dusk, or at night, for some amazing skies; or indoors if it rains, and if we want a more controlled environment.
I call the new Sports Collage Session “Lights, Camera, Action,” because actors aren’t the only ones who can put on a show.
It is designed with the athlete in mind, but it can be used by anyone who wants a studio session primarily to have a custom poster.
Not only is a 16×20 custom poster included for an amazing price, but like all of my sessions, so are 4×6 proofs of all of the images in the gallery on the night of the reveal.
Yes! These special sessions include the full service photography experience too! We have a reveal, we watch the video, we enjoy the sweets from Simply Divine Cakes, we do it all… trust me, the poster may be the main attraction, but it’s not the only photo you are going to frame!
