The great thing is that regardless of the settings or occasions, what I love most about my job never changes: when my subjects see their images, they feel FAMOUS, BIGGER than LIFE… and doesn’t everyone deserve to feel that once in a while?
Tomorrow Won’t Wait
I am here to testify: as a mom, when children come into your life, time starts playing tricks on you.
The DAYS are lonnngg.
There is so much to do, right? I can’t count the number of times when my kids were small, that I realized it was 5:00 p.m. and not only had I not had a shower yet, but also I couldn’t tell you what the heck I had done all day, even though I knew I had been busy.
But the YEARS? The years are short. They are so short.
Somewhere in the chaos of being a “mommy taxi,” packing lunches, cleaning messes, teaching life skills and ABC’s, cheering from the sidelines, and playing referee to life and death disputes, I am convinced there was a worm hole that I fell through.
Because I could swear to you that just a few days ago, I was 35, and my kids were 9, 8, and 5.
That’s what the pictures on my wall tell me… because I WAITED.
Give me a second to tell you what I mean.
Even in the bedlam of life with littles, I was actually really good about budgeting for and scheduling family pictures. They were changing every day, and pictures have always been the artwork of choice in our home.
I have always LOVED looking at the past through old pictures. I was going to be sure to be super-mom and document the life of my children through photographs and video.
And I did.
Until…
The year was 2007. My friend Treva Neville was photographing families at the time, and I scheduled a session for ours (yes, even professional photographers need professional photographers in their lives).
We blew the budget, using all of our tax refund on a gallery of products that I will treasure all of my life.
I am so glad of that, p.s. The money would have been spent anyway, and on things much less important than my memories.
But here is where I went terribly wrong….
The next year, I looked at those pictures and vividly remember thinking, “I’m going to wait for pictures. They kids really haven’t changed that much.”
And then LIFE happened.
So let me tell you that the next time I scheduled family pictures was last year. Suddenly, my kids weren’t 9, 8, and 5.
They were 18, 17, and 14.
And my chance to document their lives at those ages in between was lost forever.
Please. DO NOT WAIT.
I help the families I photograph keep to a schedule by including a complimentary session with every collection they purchase from me.
That way, they only have to budget for the products they will treasure.
And they have me to help with the decision making every step of the way. I can even help with the outfit planning, if that is a challenge.
So go ahead, shoot me an email, or send me a text, so we can get your memories documented.
Trust me when I tell ya, tomorrow won’t wait.
Love and Blessings,
Lymarie
