The great thing is that regardless of the settings or occasions, what I love most about my job never changes: when my subjects see their images, they feel FAMOUS, BIGGER than LIFE… and doesn’t everyone deserve to feel that once in a while?
The Roanoke Rapids High School Homecoming Dance is directly after the Homecoming football game, so as Varsity Cheerleaders, Cailyn, Taylor, and Lily didn’t have much time to get ready and take pictures. So we decided to get some mileage out of their dresses and have a shoot in Times Square during our recent trip to New York.
Much thanks to Gab Mariella for pampering the girls with hair and make up. They looked and felt like stars!
But ours are small town girls visiting the big city, and they were nervous about shooting in front of a large crowd.
“It’s New York,” I said. “They are used to seeing crazy things,” I said. “No one will even blink at you,” I said.
I lied.
The moment we started, huge crowds gathered around us. Little girls with wide eyes asked for pictures with our girls. They were the center of attention in our small little bubble of the big apple, as people asked what magazine we were shooting for, or what advertising campaign we were representing.
Something tells me they didn’t mind the attention at all.
They were smokin’ despite the cold, cold weather… and they all said this was the highlight of a trip full of fantastic memories.
I can’t wait to do this again. Join us, next time, won’t you?
