The great thing is that regardless of the settings or occasions, what I love most about my job never changes: when my subjects see their images, they feel FAMOUS, BIGGER than LIFE… and doesn’t everyone deserve to feel that once in a while?
As a photographer, I am used to documenting important life events for my people. I am always filled with gratitude that they trust me with their memories. But it makes my heart happy to be able to do a shoot just for fun, with no special reason except to make it possible for someone to have a quick escape from “real life.” Every girl likes to be made to feel like a movie star from time to time, right?
Last weekend, Rosemary and her sweet cousin Emily drove up from Spring Hope, NC for just that reason.
Let me tell you about our day, and show you the gorgeousness that resulted from her “just because” session.
Professional Hair and Make Up is a MUST:
Their first stop was with the fabulous Sarah Daugherty, for hair and make-up. I can’t say enough good things about Sarah. She is a talented artist, and generous soul whom I trust implicitly to make my clients look their best before I get my hands on them.
Unless I am doing a stylized session, I like my clients still to look like themselves, but in a refined way, polished way.
Sarah, and the handful of hair and make up artists that I choose to work with, know exactly how to make that happen.
She highlighted Rosie’s gorgeous features and spunky vibe, and got her looking JUST RIGHT for our session.
I LOVE Rosie’s look, and I LOVE the work Sarah did to make her shine.
I get that hair and make up is an extra investment, but I ask my ladies to opt for professional hair and make up because:
Trust me, it is so, so worth it!
I Can Help With The Styling Too:
Before Rosie’s session, I sent her a guide to help her know which colors would work best with her skin tone.
You can read more about how I help my clients work through what will look best in their photos HERE.
The bottom line is that the color theory and other tips I can offer my clients WORK. We can use them all to our advantage when deciding where we are going to shoot.
Ready, Aim, Shoot, Score:
Once that ground work is done, my clients and I can concentrate on taking images and creating an experience that will be with us all for a long time.
To me, it is all about the connection we make.
And THAT, you guys, is the reason I love what I am allowed to do.
My “why” are texts like the one I got from Emily, when she got home from our shoot:
“She just told me she could explode, she’s so excited. I haven’t heard her this happy in a while. You did something none of us could have. You made her feel beautiful. I can’t thank you enough for today. I’m honestly crying typing this because I am just so thankful that this all happened today.”
Little does she know that I am the one who left the day with an overflowing heart.
If you would like information on the portrait experience with me, you can grab a Client Guide here, or just shoot me an email at lymarie@lymariepjacksonphotography.com.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Blessings,
Lymarie
