The great thing is that regardless of the settings or occasions, what I love most about my job never changes: when my subjects see their images, they feel FAMOUS, BIGGER than LIFE… and doesn’t everyone deserve to feel that once in a while?
As we head into August many of us are hearing the call of crisp autumn nights and the tradition and pageantry of football. For the Class of 2024, this season is a special one… SENIOR YEAR! So the ladies of Team 2024 and I paid tribute to Friday Night Lights during our first group shoot of the year.
Not all of the Seniors I photograph choose to be on our Senior Rep Team, but this group of girls has chosen to spend their year with me. Not only do we get to work together one on one on their senior session, but we will have a number of styled shoots through the year, and then spend some time together afterward in fellowship. Some of this year’s team were already friends, but we also had girls traveling who came in only knowing me… but by the end of the shoot, and by the time we went to Sunset Slush of Roanoke Rapids for ice cream and italian ice, it was hard to tell who were lifelong friends and who had just met. Let me just tell ya, it’s gonna be a GREAT year!
Karlie is a Senior from RRHS. Even though she is easy going and has a playful personality, she is also goal oriented and disciplined, which has led to her success both in academics and athletics. Her resume is varied, and includes membership in the National Honor Society, DECA, and football cheer, among other things… but her main loves are traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Karlie is weighing her options for post graduation plans, and while the medical field holds some interest for her, she thinks that finding a specialty in business would best suit her strengths.
Regardless of where the future takes her, she is confident that the sky is the limit… and I know she is right!
Hannah comes to us from Virginia, and football is important to her family, so she was especially excited for us to celebrate Friday Night Lights with our first shoot.
Sports and athletic activities in general have played a big part in her life growing up, from tennis to volleyball, to softball and dance. Even though she is busy with all of those things and working with children at the local YMCA, faith and family are her number one priority. And I have to say that I felt I found a kindred spirit in her when she said that she loves “The Office,” and that her group of friends call themselves “The Breakfast Club.” I mean come on, her loving throw backs like that just points to good parenting and good character! 🙂
An artist with a heart for children, Hannah’s future plans include majoring in psychology with a minor in art, and becoming an art therapist for kids.
Madi has a cheerful but genuine spirit, and holds her relationships with Jesus, her family, and her friends most dear to her heart. She goes into Senior Year just having served as a Junior Marshall, so she highly values academic excellence, but she balances her robust schedule with Varsity Cheerleading, an all-girls Bible study group, and baby sitting,
Though she is undecided about where she will pursue her education after high school, Madi has a creative heart, and has developed a keen interest in fashion and interior design. With her mom’s guidance, she is exploring options in which to channel her entrepreneurial spirit, and she is interested in shoring up those endeavors by studying business too. Beauty, kindness, and brains… Madi will change the world for those around her, and I am excited to see where she goes with her creativity and to support her along her way!
Claudia was the first from this crew to reach out about being on Team 2024 more than a year ago… and now her vivaciousness and warmth are a glue for our group.
Claudia is anchored by her strong faith and the support of her loving family; those are the sources of her strength and resilience. I love how she manages to be silly and bubbly, yet grounded. Her energy and enthusiasm are contagious, and her willingness to be transparent makes her approachable and real.
She is also passionate about volleyball, and is excited to represent Bunn High School for one last season on the court… putting an exclamation point on a journey she started when she was 8 years old. While she is on track to graduate in December, she is undecided about exactly where her future will take her. Life experiences have exposed an interest in learning business. while at the same time have shown her a path towards counseling and ministry. I look forward to seeing the positive impact she makes, whatever direction she is led.
Meagan has spent her high school years on the Football Cheer Team and has danced as long as she can remember. She has developed an impressively well-rounded resume as she looks forward to what comes after high school: her academic and civic achievements have landed her membership into the National Honor Society; her high GPA earned her the honor of being a Junior Marshall at last year’s graduation; and her time dedicated to SkillsUSA has shown her a possible career path as a physical therapist.
No question, regardless of where she goes, or what she does, Meagan will be successful, but for now her focus is soaking up Senior Year and everything it has to offer by stepping out of her comfort zone and being intentional about making core memories. Team 2024 is just one of the ways she intends to do just that!
