The great thing is that regardless of the settings or occasions, what I love most about my job never changes: when my subjects see their images, they feel FAMOUS, BIGGER than LIFE… and doesn’t everyone deserve to feel that once in a while?
I watched “The Greatest Showman” for the first time last weekend. And as I listened to the moving soundtrack and inspiring lyrics, all I could think about is my sweet Class of 2018 Reps.
This class is special to me, because my son is among them. Peyton is my heart. He is the most principled among us Jacksons. He is the one who was often underestimated, and always found a way to overcome and to over achieve. He is good. He is thoughtful. He is brilliant. He is disciplined. He is kind. He is not afraid to make a stand for what he thinks is right.
I have watched him, and many of this Class of 2018 of them grow up before my eyes, and I love who they have become… and who they are becoming, as they move into adulthood, making their mark on this world.
“Look out ’cause here I come and I’m marching on to the beat I drum. I’m not scared to be seen. I make no apologies, this is me.” (This Is Me)
Graduation is such a bittersweet time. As I celebrate what is coming next for them, part of me mourns for the way things are now, that will soon be what used to be.
“I’m trying to hold my breath. Let it stay this way, can’t let this moment end.” (Never Enough)
But they are ready. I know they are.
“I know there is a place for us, for we are glorious….” (This Is Me)
That makes it easier. And I am ready to see them start making their dreams come true.
“I think of all the world could be, a vision of the one I see… a million dreams is all it’s gonna take, a million dreams for the world we’re gonna make.” (A Million Dreams)
So, Team 2018… THANK YOU for sharing your year with me. THANK YOU for finding ways to put smiles on my face, and for letting me preserve memories for you and your family.
I mean it when I say that I will be looking for you, cheering you on as your life unfolds before you.
I’ve said it before, and I will say it again. Go change the world.
Blessings,
Lymarie
