The great thing is that regardless of the settings or occasions, what I love most about my job never changes: when my subjects see their images, they feel FAMOUS, BIGGER than LIFE… and doesn’t everyone deserve to feel that once in a while?

I love sports. I love athletes. And I miss my years as a coach, when I could give my athletes a little direction, and watch them become larger than life. Action sports portraits lets me take my “pose coaching” to another level: the results are FIRE!
I call these shoots “Media Day” sessions. So much about the glory of athletics is dependent on the individuals’ hard work. Media Days let athletes show off while they let loose and blow off steam under studio lights. The lighting and retouching give the images a more dynamic look than my normal portrait style… and that is by design. Senior Sessions are meant to show our clients who they are on their best day. My lighting is usually soft, and my edits are significant, but subtle. Ahhhh, but athletes to me are bigger than life… their portraits should be live action and powerful too.
In studio, or on location, as an individual, or with teammates… any way we do them, these are quickly becoming my favorite sessions to shoot. Which do you prefer?
